This week sees the launch of a national week of action to help more people have a stronger voice in their care. The Care Quality Commission (CQC) and Healthwatch England have organised a campaign to get more people to share their feedback to improve health and care services. The campaign aims to encourage everyone to give feedback on their experiences of care, particularly those who are more likely to experience poorer care and inequalities (for example, in access and experiences of care), who may face more barriers and are less likely to give their feedback. Public feedback about NHS and social care support helps services identify problems, what's working well, and areas for improvement yet research shows that the majority of us never provide such feedback on our care or treatment.
There have been several high profile health and social care scandals in recent years .We have all read with alarm about the infected blood scandal, the maternity care failings at Nottingham , Shrewsbury and East Kent and the Winterbourne View abuse scandal, to name but a few. Just in the last few weeks we have heard about another investigation into preventable deaths at the University of Hospitals Sussex NHS Trust. Voicing concerns can drive change and help prevent the next health and social care scandal yet there are many health and social care users whose voices are not being heard. Support this campaign to get as many people as possible involved so that we can all make a positive impact and help improve care.
This campaign is being supported by:
